A Few Words

About me

My name is Mikela-Zoi Symeonidou.

I am inspired by the inner worlds of people and by the desire to co-shape our stance toward life—politically, aesthetically, and ethically.

I studied Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and obtained my professional license in 2017 (File No PPI/PKM/26327/624). My training in Systemic Therapy was completed at the Institute of Systemic Therapy in Thessaloniki, a program recognized by the European Association for Family Therapy (EFTA-TIC) and the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAPTI, EEPSE). I am a regular member of the Systemic Association of Northern Greece.

Other life experiences have also significantly influenced my approach as a therapist. My studies in Dance provided a strong foundation for deepening my understanding of the embodied self in the psychotherapeutic process and fostered my particular interest in non-verbal communication within the therapeutic setting.

In the Present

With sensitivity and respect for individuals, I take into account the psychosocial and cultural context and focus on fostering a sense of safety and co-creating our relationship within the therapeutic framework.
I orient my work towards the ongoing development of each individual’s potential through their experiences and their interaction with the world.

As both a professional and an individual, I continuously train and evolve through individual and group supervision, as well as by attending and participating in scientific conferences and training programs.

Professional Journey

As part of my Psychology studies, I completed my internship at the Family Therapy Department of the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki (General Hospital "Papanikolaou"). There, I was a member of the reflecting team in psychotherapy sessions with couples and families, which was my first introduction to the principles of Systemic Therapy. Between 2017 and 2024, I worked as a professional psychologist in Greece, specializing in the fields of addiction and family therapy, while also participating in research programs.

I collaborated with the Department of Psychology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and volunteered for two years in a research project focused on verbal and non-verbal interaction (facial expressions, body coordination, posture, and psychophysiological responses) among psychotherapy participants.

I worked as a professional psychologist and therapist at the Counseling Center of KETHEA "Ithaki," providing individual sessions for substance users and supervising self-help groups.

I also collaborated with specialized therapy centers ("Logos & Ergo") in the community of Chalkidiki, offering counseling services to parents, couples, and families, as well as conducting individual and group sessions with children and adolescents.

Since February 2023, I have been running a private practice in the center of Thessaloniki, providing psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups.
