A Few Words

Parenting Counseling

Parenting Counseling Parenting counseling refers to the process in which parents or guardians are invited, through their relationship with their child/children, to develop personally. The focus of the process is the lifelong evolving relationship between parents and children, with the goal of deepening the ways in which this relationship is built beautifully and harmoniously.

The journey of parenthood, like any challenge or new situation in life, involves strong emotions and its own concerns and problems. Parents face situations they experience for the first time in this position, as they have previously been in the role of the child. Thus, they often resort to solutions that their own parents used with them, even though these may not fit their own children, as each person exists and functions in their own unique way.

Through counselling parents can:

  • Understand their role and that of their children, where each is accompanied by different needs, desires, and feelings.
  • Delve into aspects of their relationship with their child, find new ways to address difficulties, and negotiate issues and emotions arising from their relationship with their own parents that impact their relationship with their children.
  • Strengthen their parental role and enhance their communication skills with their children.

Common topics that concern parents include:

Conflicts with children or between children.
Aggression in children.
Transitions (birth, adolescence, moves, etc.).
Illness.
Loss
Dilemmas in raising children
Communication – Trust – Calmness, etc.
